FAQs

1. What is a celebrant, and how do they differ from a religious officiant?

A celebrant is a trained professional who creates and conducts personalised ceremonies that reflect the couple’s beliefs and values. Unlike religious officiants, celebrants focus on secular, humanist, or non-traditional ceremonies, allowing for greater flexibility in content and style.

2. What types of ceremonies do you offer?

I offer a range of ceremonies, including weddings, vow renewals, and elopements. Each ceremony is tailored to reflect your unique love story and preferences, ensuring a memorable experience for you and your guests.

3. How do we start the process of planning our ceremony?

The first step is to schedule an initial consultation, either in person or virtually. During this informal chat, we’ll discuss your vision, preferences, and any specific elements you’d like to include in your ceremony.

4. Can we incorporate personal elements into our ceremony?

Absolutely! I encourage couples to include personal touches such as readings, symbolic acts, or custom vows. The goal is to create a ceremony that truly reflects your relationship and resonates with both of you.

5. Do you provide a script for the ceremony?

Yes, I will create a detailed ceremony script based on our discussions. You’ll have the opportunity to review and request revisions to ensure it perfectly captures your vision.

6. How many meetings will we have before the ceremony?

Typically, we’ll have at least two meetings: the initial consultation and a follow-up closer to the ceremony date. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed, especially if you’d like help with writing vows or coordinating the rehearsal.

7. What if we need help writing our vows?

I’m here to assist you with vow writing! Whether you’d like to create your own vows or choose from pre-written options, I’ll guide you through the process to ensure your vows are heartfelt and personal.

Family and friends can take part in a humanist wedding ceremony. Pets are also welcome at a celebrant led ceremony.

8. Will you conduct a rehearsal before the ceremony?

Yes, I offer the option of a rehearsal to ensure that you and your wedding party feel confident and comfortable with the flow of the ceremony. This helps everything run smoothly on the big day.

9. Can we include symbolic acts, family, friends or pets in our ceremony?

Definitely! Symbolic acts, such as hand-fasting, unity candles, or sand ceremonies, can be incorporated to add meaning and depth to your ceremony. Humanism is fully inclusive and we more than welcome participation from loved ones, including pets! We can discuss which options resonate with you during our planning process.

10. What happens on the day of the ceremony?

On the day of the ceremony, I’ll arrive early to ensure everything is set up and to coordinate with your venue and vendors. I will lead the ceremony, ensuring it flows smoothly while creating a warm and memorable atmosphere.
