COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we carry out our daily lives. The UK Government has placed certain restrictions on public gatherings – this has affected the numbers who can attend funerals and how the ceremony is conducted. Different local authorities have slightly different applications relating to this guidance depending in what tier you live. For those in Tier 2, I am able to meet families of up to five people in a local park or garden, if weather permits; or if you prefer, by phone or video conference (Zoom or Skype). For those in Tier 3 at the moment face-to-face meetings are not possible.

For ceremonies themselves your funeral director will be able to advise you on the latest guidelines for the area in which you live.

Where friends or family members are unable to attend the ceremony, many crematoria have facilities to video the event, which can be watched at the time from home via the internet or accessed via a link in the days after the ceremony.

Many families are also choosing to hold a memorial event, and/or scattering of ashes at a later date when restrictions on social gatherings will have relaxed. I am happy to advise on these and all other options which help you plan a personal farewell for your loved one.
