Anything you like.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no set script, no rigid rules, and no need to follow tradition unless it means something to you. A Humanist wedding gives you the freedom to shape your ceremony in a way that truly reflects who you are as a couple\u2014your personalities, values, and the journey you\u2019ve shared.<\/p>\n<p>That said, most ceremonies do tend to follow a kind of natural rhythm. Here\u2019s an example of a structure that works well (and can be adapted however you wish):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arrival of the couple (together or separately\u2014your choice!)<\/li>\n<li>Warm welcome and introductions<\/li>\n<li>Reflections on love and commitment<\/li>\n<li>A reading, poem, or other personal contribution<\/li>\n<li>Your story as a couple\u2014how you met, what you value, your hopes for the future<\/li>\n<li>Another contribution (maybe a song, a reading, or something completely unexpected)<\/li>\n<li>Words of encouragement or support from your guests<\/li>\n<li>Your personal vows or promises<\/li>\n<li>A symbolic gesture (like handfasting, candle lighting, or sand blending)<\/li>\n<li>Exchange of rings (if you&#8217;re doing that)<\/li>\n<li>Pronouncement of marriage<\/li>\n<li>Final thoughts and well-wishes<\/li>\n<li>A joyful exit to music and applause<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ceremonies usually last about 20\u201330 minutes, and many include a blend of music, readings, symbolic elements, and of course\u2014lots of personality.<\/p>\n<p>But here\u2019s the thing: this is <em>your<\/em> day. If none of the above fits what you\u2019re after, that\u2019s absolutely fine. We can start from scratch and build something completely bespoke. Your ceremony can be as heartfelt, quirky, serious, fun, simple, or theatrical as you like.
