I particularly like to do outdoor ceremonies.

Naming ceremonies are a way to celebrate the arrival of new family members and welcome them to the world. Funerals and memorials bring family and friends together to celebrate the unique life of the person who has died. Weddings mark a joyous new beginning for a couple as they make their vows in front of family and friends – or maybe not if they opt for an elopement!

My ceremonies

Are warm, flexible and unique – written with and for you

Are inclusive, dignified and honest

May include music, ritual and readings if you wish (I can advise)

Can be held wherever you wish

Include a Presentation Copy and PDF given afterwards as a lasting reminder of your special day

For more details, click one of the tabs above or feel free to contact me for a chat.

About me

I love to help people mark key points in their lives, whether it be the birth of a new baby, their wedding or the loss of a loved one. I used to teach at Swansea University; this background in higher education means I have a wealth of experience in organising events, public speaking, and communicating empathetically with people of all ages. I believe in the power of kindness.

Living as I do near the Gower Peninsula with its stunning coastline, I make the most of the great outdoors. I am a trained Lowland Leader and am working towards my Hill and Moorland Leader qualification. I am part of the team who organise the annual Gower Walking Festival and am a core member of Uplands Living Streets. I am a keen gardener and volunteer regularly at Swansea’s beautiful Singleton Park. I love to read, cook, and go to the cinema.

The humanism thing

You don’t have to be a humanist or know anything about it to appreciate a warm and personal ceremony, which is what we offer!

But if you are curious, here’s where you can find out more: https://humanism.org.uk/.

Humanist celebrants are highly trained and are accredited with Humanists UK. We are DBS checked and insured. We are part of a network, so if by any chance I am ill or otherwise unable to take your ceremony, a local colleague will step in at short notice.

If you think I might be the right person to lead a ceremony for you, get in touch for a no obligation chat: 07951 393971 or b.haines9@icloud.com.

Hi, I’m Brigid and I offer non-religious weddings, naming ceremonies, funerals and memorial ceremonies in Swansea and across South and Mid-Wales, and online.
