About Catherine McDonald

Hi, My name is Catherine.

Welcome to my page. I am a Humanist Naming Celebrant accredited by Humanists UK. I am based here in Belfast but willing to travel, so let your imagination run wild.

I am a mummy to a 3-year-old boy who is a little bundle of energy and joy. My husband is the most supportive person, and I am lucky to have him on my side, especially when our toddler decides he doesn’t like us anymore. If you know, you know!

Humanism and me

Welcome sign for a naming ceremony

Both of us were brought up in the Catholic religion, but as we moved into adulthood, we stepped away from the religion. Humanism is a better fit for our family. So when our son was born in 2023. A Humanist naming ceremony was an easy choice for us. We celebrated with our friends and family, and it was the perfect day.

A little bit about me

  • I am originally from lovely Donegal in the Northwest of Ireland. A townland made famous by the captain of the Donegal GAA team (if there are any GAA fans out there)
  • I am the oldest of four children, and being the oldest, I am extremely organised and reliable, which is a strength I bring to my ceremony work.
  • I have lived in Belfast for over 17 years, so I have lived in the North nearly as long as  I lived in Donegal. Belfast and the North is my home, and the people and the place are wonderful.
  • I love the arts, theatre, Art galleries, dance, spoken word. I worked in an Arts centre for 10 years and I got to experience the best and worst the arts scene has to offer.
  • I am a major movie geek my favourite film being “The Breakfast Club” or anything from 80’s period John Hughes also partial to binging trashy tv like “The Real House wives of New York” much to my husband’s dismay.

If I sound like the perfect fit for you please get in touch. I can’t wait to hear from you
