Humanism and Training

What is Humanism?

Humanism is a non-religious way of life. It is the conviction that there is enough joy, wisdom and awe found in this one life. And that our natural human capacities for warmth, kindness and love are all we need to live well, and with meaning.

About My Celebrant Training.

I am trained and accredited by Humanist UK and I am proud to be associated with the organisation. The network of incredible people I met during the training reassured me that I made the right choice.

The training was 5 full days over 3 months just to get accredited by Humanist UK. We had to write and present emails, scripts and ceremonies based on real life scenarios. Each time this work was marked, critiqued and rewritten several times. I cannot express how stringent the training is for this. We are not just given a list of instructions for one day and then given a certificate, it is a real-life training course that it is quite possible to fail.

Interview techniques, structuring the ceremony, preparing the environment, arrival of guests and opening the ceremony, delivery, managing contributors, endings, even vocal warm ups, the training was incredibly detailed.

To be accredited by Humanist UK every celebrant has to be peer reviewed each year to ensure we are sticking to the key elements that we are trained in. You are in safe hands with any of the Humanist UK Celebrant network. Even if you don’t choose me, choose one of the other Humanists in the UK network, they are all brilliant.
