Weddings

Hiya! I’m Helen, and I hear you are tying the knot.

Congratulations!

Well, I might be just who you need.

What is that, you may well ask?

Well, think of me as a vicar—but without the dog collar, oh, and the religion. My role as your celebrant is to produce a bespoke ceremony that’s totally unique and completely tailored to you. If you want traditional or bonkers—or a mixture of both—I’ll accommodate your wishes. (Unless it involves jumping out of a plane or swimming with sharks… then maybe I’m not the one for you!) Whether you go big or small, indoors or outdoors—the local pub, a stately home, a field, or a forest—the choice is yours. Unlike other ceremonies, there are no set words, no cut-and-paste, no “insert name here.” I’ll be guided by you and your wishes.
As a Humanists UK celebrant, I believe in promoting tolerance, rational thinking, freedom of choice, and kindness. That’s why a Humanist ceremony is a truly inclusive, joyous occasion—regardless of your race, religious beliefs, gender, or sexuality.

Who am I?

I was born and bred in Hertfordshire. I have no children of my own, but I do have two amazing goddaughters—despite not being christened. “Is that even allowed?!”

I’ve worked as a Graphics Operator in the television industry for 34 years, on many and varied programmes—from the sublime to the ridiculous! I’m used to pressure and always try to keep my sense of humour. If you can’t laugh, what else is there?

I spend my summer months by the Thames. I love anything creative—writing, art, and cinema. Jaws is my all-time favourite film; hence, I won’t be doing any weddings in a shark cage!

Why choose me?

The key thing is: I’m a good listener. I want to find out all about you so that your story can be woven into your ceremony. I care about people, and I’m kind. I’ll guide you through each stage of the process, make suggestions if you need ideas, and create a script that encapsulates everything YOU want on your special day—with a bit of humour thrown in for good measure.

Get in Touch.

I offer a free consultation so you can find out if I’m right for you. It’s a big decision—you need to know you’ve got it right, and I need to know I’m the right person to deliver on your big day. I’m happy to discuss further details, including my fee and travel arrangements. Although I’m based in Hertfordshire, I’m happy to conduct ceremonies in Oxfordshire and the surrounding area within an agreed mileage.
Until then, I wish you all the very best—and hopefully speak soon.
