About Me

I’ll guide you through everything and create your happy day!

WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE YOU?

I am based in Belfast in Northern Ireland. The ceremonies that I create are mostly here in Northern Ireland, but I am very flexible, I have an up to date passport and I am willing to travel anywhere in the world to be part of your big day!

Looking for a celebrant near you in Northern Ireland ? It’s always great to meet face-to-face. I’m happy to buy you cup of tea or your favourite tipple and have a chat. If you aren’t currently in Northern Ireland don’t worry, it is easy to chat over Zoom, telephone, email or WhatsApp. If I don’t live nearby that’s not a problem!

WHY DID YOU BECOME A WEDDING CELEBRANT?

I am a people person. I love weddings and I love creating amazing ceremonies. I definitely have the best job in the world!

When my children were little, my husband and I set up a local integrated school with a group of other interested parents. During this time I discovered the art of mediation (difficult conversations with mutual agreements).  I gave up my job in the arts to become a mediator and a trainer. I have been a guest lecturer in Peace Building at University of Ireland Maynooth too.

In 2017 whilst scrolling through Facebook, I saw that Humanists UK were training non-religious pastoral carers. I signed up thinking it was a good fit for me. I loved it and also trained as a School Speaker (visiting schools and chatting to young people about what it’s like to be a humanist, our views and values).

Then I became a humanist wedding celebrant in Northern Ireland and I loved it.

For a year I combined creating amazing humanist ceremonies with my work as a mediator and trainer. It was so amazing I decided to dedicate myself full-time to being a celebrant.

I am passionate about weddings. I put my heart and soul into creating the perfect ceremony.

I definitely have the best job in the world. It’s why I chose to call what I do Happy Days NI. It makes me really happy, and I am equally determined to create the happiest of days for my clients.

I have a humanist philosophy that life is amazing and worth celebrating. We create our own meaning in life and central to that is the relationships we share with one another. That’s why everyone is welcome at a humanist wedding regardless of your beliefs. Every ceremony is uniquely created, personal, meaningful and memorable to mark your special day.

Until recently, humanist weddings weren’t legally binding in Northern Ireland. I am really proud to be part of Humanists UK celebrant team giving people a choice about how they would like to get married!

AND WHEN YOU’RE NOT CELEBRATING WEDDINGS?

When I am not creating amazing Wedding Ceremonies, Vow Renewals and Elopements, I also provide Naming Ceremonies, Funerals and Memorials for the non-religious amongst us.

At other times, you can find me curled up on the sofa with a book. Or out in a local park, up a mountain or on a beach walking my lovely dogs. My children are all young adults now and I get very excited when they come home. Like me, they are foodies, and we can be found cooking up a storm in our kitchen or working on our latest cocktail.

My husband has always been an inspiration to me. I didn’t want to get married (until I met him). Being married for almost thirty years has made me realise just how lovely it is to share life with a very special person. If you have found that person with whom you want to spend your life that’s something worth celebrating!

WHAT MAKES YOUR CEREMONIES UNIQUE?

With years of experience as a trainer, facilitator and mediator I have a warm and relaxed approach. I really value diversity.  I am keen to take out the stress out of all the wedding planning and create your happy day. Together, we will chat about what you would like most in your ceremony and I will do my very best to make it happen.

I’ll bring your love story to life, capturing the special things that makes your relationship unique! We’ll draw out what makes your relationship work, how your bring the best out in each other; how you balance one another out; and your hopes and dreams for your future together.

As your celebrant, it is my job to create the perfect ceremony. I will make a meaningful and personal celebration for you. I will get to know you both as much or as little as you would like me to (the better I know you, the more personal your ceremony will be). I’ve been told that my warm and positive approach reduces all the stress and makes couples feel genuinely excited for their ceremony.

I’D DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE (BUT I WONT DO THAT…)

Part of my humanist philosophy is that we should make the world a better place for ourselves and others. I would prefer not to do something that has a negative impact on the environment. For this reason, I discourage events that may damage our environment or endanger wildlife. I’ll be glad to suggest lots of green and eco-friendly alternatives for your ceremony that are beautiful to amaze and delight your wedding guests!

AND FINALLY

Choosing your celebrant can be a big decision, I totally understand that. I’m more than happy to chat with you about your wedding plans, and we can see if I’m the perfect celebrant for your big day. If not, I can recommend someone from my lovely colleagues. If you think I could be the celebrant you are looking for you, get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
