About Jon
Jon Trew has had a wide and interesting career that has included working with children, vulnerable adults, victims of crime and teaching adults. He has worked in Portugal, Scotland, Ireland and Lesotho in Southern Africa. He set up the first children’s centre in Wales and established Victim Support Wales. Fort the last twelve years he has worked as a safeguarding consultant training teachers, social workers, nursery nurses and dentists and delivers a weekly webinar about child protection and safeguarding matters. Born in Risca in South Wales Jon grew up in and lives in Barry. He has spoken at several national conferences, and given evidence to parliamentary committees.
Jon lost his father at 15 and this has resulted in a life long concern about the effects of bereavement and loss. Following the loss of his mother last year Jon decided to train as a funeral celebrant Jon’s interests include history jazz and making sourdough bread. He is married with two children and rescues greyhounds. He helped Greyhound Rescue Wales set up their first rescue centre as well as their chain of charity shops.
