Kathryn is a Humanist Celebrant, accredited by Humanists UK. Known as Love Celebrants – She brings fifteen years of experience as a professional broadcaster and presenter to every ceremony, so you may well hear her before you see her.

Originally from Northern Ireland and now based in Buckinghamshire, Kathryn conducts ceremonies across London and the Home Counties, and is delighted to travel further afield throughout the UK for the right couple.

What makes Kathryn a great Humanist Wedding Celebrant?

Kathryn’s true passion is storytelling, and love stories in particular are what bring her the most joy. She works closely with every couple to capture their story in a way that feels emotional, engaging and entirely their own.

As a non-traditionalist, she believes a wedding ceremony should be about the couple themselves: their relationship, their story, and the people witnessing it.

What is a Humanist Wedding?

In recent years, humanist weddings have become increasingly well known, and for good reason. In Scotland, they’re now more popular than religious ceremonies of any kind.

A humanist wedding is a non-religious celebration that is welcoming, inclusive and entirely personal to you, built around your love story and the things that matter most to you as a couple. It’s conducted by a trained humanist celebrant, and it can include your own vows, readings, poems, music and any rituals you choose, such as handfasting or a unity candle.

Unlike a civil or register office ceremony, a humanist wedding can take place wherever feels meaningful to you: on a clifftop, beside a river, in a woodland, or at a venue that holds real significance. You’re in control of every detail, from who stands beside you to how your pets or children are involved. It’s your wedding, entirely your way.

Are humanist weddings legally recognised in the UK?

Humanist weddings are already legally recognised in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Jersey. In England, Wales, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, couples can still have a humanist wedding, as thousands do every year, but will need to register the marriage separately at a register office.

This is changing. In October 2025, the UK Government confirmed its intention to legally recognise humanist marriages in England and Wales, and in July 2026 it launched a public consultation on wedding law reform, the most significant change to marriage law in almost two hundred years. As someone from Northern Ireland, where humanist marriages have been legally recognised since 2018, Kathryn is genuinely excited to see England catching up. Can we have a same-sex wedding?

Absolutely. Kathryn is delighted to conduct same-sex weddings, and every ceremony she creates is a fully inclusive celebration of love.

Where will Kathryn travel for wedding ceremonies?

Kathryn is based in Buckinghamshire and conducts ceremonies across London and the Home Counties, with a particular love of weddings at Blenheim Palace, Cliveden House and other distinguished venues. She’s always happy to travel further afield, including to Northern Ireland, where she grew up and still visits often.
