What people say about Laurie’s ceremonies

It was lovely to see our niece’s wedding celebrated with warm stories and knowledge of the couple and their lives together. It filled the occasion with humour and intimacy.

Laurie led a moving ceremony for my friends’ wedding in Yorkshire last year. The ceremony was refreshingly original in its engagement with tradition and beautifully captured the couple’s love for one another, making it effortless for friends and family to share in the magic of their special day.

I attended my granddaughter’s wedding in October. It was a beautiful event. Having Laurie perform the ceremony made the wedding so much more meaningful, so much more personal. It was a very special wedding.

Laurie was an absolute pleasure to work with from writing our wedding ceremony to performing it beautifully on the day. Our guests have told us how much they enjoyed the ceremony, particularly how personal and ‘us’ it was and we couldn’t have done this without Laurie’s guidance and support. We couldn’t recommend her highly enough to anyone wanting a humanist celebration!

Lianne and I want to thank you so much for making our ceremony so great! We really appreciate it and had such a great day as did our guests. Many of them told us how much they enjoyed the ceremony so everything you did for us really means a lot.

Where do we begin with Laurie? From day one, she was nothing short of amazing. We initially contacted Laurie via email and this was followed up by a phone call for a casual chat to see how we might like our day to go.

We met up with her closer to the time to go through our story and from there, she produced a wonderful ceremony which we then worked on and tweaked so it was ready for our day (although very little fine tuning was needed!)

Laurie was very helpful advising us of timings, how the day would roughly start and was flexible to last minute changes which we wanted to make to our readings. During the writing process, she was never short of ideas for readings/ poems/ songs we could use during our ceremony.

We feel privileged to have had Laurie as our celebrant. She created a ceremony which was wonderfully unique, her warmth and humour really shone through creating a really fun and relaxed atmosphere.

We honestly can’t recommend her enough, thank you Laurie for all of your hard work and for bringing such joy to our wedding.

After experiencing another humanist wedding a few years ago, we always knew we wanted our own wedding to feature a humanist ceremony.

We love the ideas that humanism celebrates: that we have one life to lead, so we need to live it and make the most of life’s beauty and riches every day. Our family and friends are the most important parts of our lives and as we came together as husband and wife we wanted our marriage ceremony to reflect and and celebrate what was important to us.

Working with Laurie was a wonderful experience and she crafted a beautiful ceremony that was completely unique and personal. Working with a humanist celebrant allowed us to reflect back on our relationship and really think about why we wanted to get married. It was a lovely process and one of the most fun parts of planning the wedding! We had such great feedback from our guests after the wedding, who commented on how much they loved our ceremony; it was fun and playful, but also sincere and heartfelt.

If you’re considering a humanist ceremony we would highly recommend Laurie. She made the process of creating the ceremony very easy and had some great recommendations for how we might like to do things, which was really helpful as we didn’t know where to start!
