I work with families to create a memorable and very personal, non-religious, ceremony of farewell.
In a Humanist funeral family and friends celebrate the life of the person who has died as well as expressing and sharing their sadness. It is a non-religious ceremony built around your wishes and developed to be an inclusive and fitting farewell.
Humanist funerals – like all others – can be held in a variety of places, although generally most are held in crematoria, cemeteries or woodland burial sites.
Our ceremonies always include a tribute to the deceased crafted from discussion with you and often feature appropriate poems or readings and several pieces of music. I can to help you choose something appropriate if you would like me to. Friends and family can participate in the ceremony if you wish or I can read pieces that they have selected or written. I’ll usually visit you to discuss and plan an authentic, bespoke ceremony. I will liaise with your Funeral Director about the Order of Service and after the ceremony I will give you a presentation copy of everything that has been said for you to keep or to send to anyone who was unable to attend.
If you are arranging a funeral, or would like to make plans for your own funeral, please feel free to contact me to talk about a humanist ceremony. It’s fine to contact me in the evenings or at weekends on 07980 303519 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org . Alternatively, you can ask your funeral director to contact me as part of their funeral planning operations.
