About Martha

I’m very proud to be a namings celebrant accredited by Humanists UK. I think it’s a wonderful thing for those of us who are not religious to have a means to acknowledge formally the significant changes in our lives, such as the arrival of a child.

Outside of this work, I am a charity professional specialising in supporting people on low incomes to access and use affordable financial products, manage their money and stay out of problem debt.  At present my focus is on the supply side of this issue, and on how financial services and utilities can treat vulnerable customers fairly.

I’ve spent many years as a trainer and facilitator, which means I know about creating inclusive and engaging experiences. You won’t struggle to hear me and I have the ability to gain and hold the attention of your group. I don’t lecture, instead I see my role as bringing out the best in your family in the setting and style that you choose.

My love of the written and spoken word means I take real pleasure in wordsmithing my ceremony scripts. I’m happy to incorporate poetry, readings, music, and other elements such as tree-plantings, into your ceremony. Just let me know what you have in mind, or I can make some suggestions.
