My background

I trained as an artist and have a BA (Hons) in Fine Art. I love to paint still, it’s just finding the time! My creativity comes into play in creating ceremonies in an imaginative and thoughtful way. I am very driven to make my ceremonies unique and memorable both on the day and in the beautiful presentation script you will be given as a keepsake.

I became a teacher, with my first teaching position being in Liverpool prison and the four bail hostels in Liverpool. I then landed a full time job in probation, doing group work, eventually managing my own caseload. I feel that this has taught me to be prepared for difficult situations and being able to manage disruption both quickly and effectively. This is always a useful skill in large family events!

I completed a Foundation in Art Therapy in 2014 which I found rewarding. I also write poems and short stories. My love of language is something I enjoy displaying when preparing my ceremony scripts.

My first experience of a Humanist ceremony sadly was the funeral of my brother. In my state of all consuming grief I could still appreciate that the ceremony was so personal and said everything about him. Our thoughts and feelings as a family had been heard and expressed sensitively and appropriately. He would have approved of what was said, it was him. People who have a religion find that to be comforting when a loved one dies but I found it reassuring to see how my brother has left his mark on the lives of others.
