Hello there!

Hello There!

Just a quick note: Although initially just a wedding celebrant, I’m now a celebrant across all three disciplines: Weddings, Funerals and Namings. Please take a look at the dedicated pages for each ceremony type!

I’m Nicki, based in Sale/Altrincham/Manchester/North West and am looking forward to meeting you to help you organise one of the key elements of your wedding – the ceremony itself.

Why Choose a Humanist Ceremony?

Any Humanist will tell you that life is short, certainly not a dress rehearsal and it’s so important to find the right words to make significant events meaningful and memorable.

You and your partner are unique. Your journey together through life will be unique too. So why not choose a bespoke ceremony just for the two of you, with readings, beautifully worded vows and music chosen to define your identity as a couple?

It’s great that couples are now starting to realise that, alongside choices for catering, dresses, flowers etc, they also have choices about whether they want standard words in a ceremony or for that part of the day to be as memorable as the reception afterwards. I can suggest readings and symbolic actions to involve your parents, your friends, your children, even your pets…

Challenge Me!

What’s your style? Classic elegance or “alternative”? I relish working on all kinds of ceremonies -each one brings a different challenge , a different tone, a different emphasis.

It’s a huge privilege and my clear vocation to write and lead uniquely crafted non- religious ceremonies; believe me, I’m well aware of the huge importance of what I do and will spend a lot of time getting it exactly right for you and for your friends and family.

The opportunity to be able to share “your story” with your guests ensures a focus on how you have arrived at this day and why your union is so special before moving on to promises for your future together.

Waiting for the High Court Ruling

You may be aware that at the moment, humanist ceremonies in England do not have legal authority but our couples find completing the necessary paperwork at the local register office either before or after their special day quite straightforward. It may well be that, following the recent high profile court cases, couples will soon be able to forgo this extra duty; at the moment, however, we are waiting with our fingers crossed!

Who Am I ?

In addition to my background in teaching (Drama/English : MA in English), I’m a published writer and in my spare time love music, words, singing, making cocktails, organising parties, big frocks and boots, walking my dog, trying to improve my intermediate French and … basically, anything theatrical!

I’m pleased to be an accredited, well-trained celebrant with the back up of Humanists UK every step of the way.

When you get in touch, we’ll chat over coffee (no obligation) and I’ll make suggestions about how I can help you construct your ceremony, a ceremony with your individuality at its heart. If you’re interested, drop me an email: nicki.alderson@humanistceremonies.org.uk

I can’t wait to get cracking on helping you with your special day!
