Listen Carefully

It’s occasionally the case in a ceremony that the name just comes out wrong. Sometimes that’s the fault of the celebrant: the vicar who took my Welsh uncle’s funeral had clearly never come across the name Ieuan before and made several unsuccessful attempts to pronounce it.

But just occasionally we spot an elephant trap up ahead. Hannah Hart has had a Tom & Jenny, a Glenn & Gwen, and a Darren & Kevin, which as she says shouldn’t have been difficult, but when kept coming out as ‘Devon’ or ‘Karen’.

Last year’s Currie-Hunt wedding was a very jolly affair, but I was glad to get it behind me for one reason. And I imagine Mr & Mrs Hunt were too.

Any other (publishable) examples out there?
