About Stephen

I live in Baldock, Hertfordshire, and I’m an accredited, Funeral, Wedding and Naming celebrant with  Humanists UK; I’m also married with two adult sons and two grandchildren. I have been conducting Humanist ceremonies since 2010 – working across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Buckinghamshire including: Huntingdonshire, East Cambs, East Suffolk, Stevenage, Bedford, Central Beds and beyond!

Having been a member of Humanists UK for some time now, I came to realise that there was another humanist service that I could provide which would further define my beliefs and give extra purpose to my accreditation with the British Humanist Association.
Between weddings, funerals and Namings, I have conducted over 300 ceremonies.
All of my ceremonies are unique and very personal to the family and/or the person involved.

Here is what Humanists UK say about our ceremonies:

Humanist Ceremonies:

“Most of us want to mark important events in our lives such as, Weddings and partnerships as well as to commemorate people we have loved when they die. For those of us with no religious belief it’s important that we can mark these occasions with honesty, warmth and affection, using words and music that are personal and appropriate to the lives and the people involved”.

“Every humanist ceremony:

  • Is special, created specifically for the people involved
  • Based on shared human values
  • Focuses on the occasion and the people involved
  • Has no strict rules beyond basic legal requirements
  • Will ensure the occasion is exactly what you and your family want

Humanist Ceremonies™ is our network of trained and accredited Humanist celebrants throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland”.

  • Humanist Weddings or Partnerships:

“Celebrate your marriage, partnership or re-affirmation of your commitment with a Humanist wedding, partnership or affirmation ceremony. A Humanist wedding can be held anywhere; couples are not limited to licensed venues, opening up a new world of possible venues”. The following links will provide a great insight to our ceremonies; please check them out.

How the ceremonies work:

If I am chosen to conduct your ceremony,  I will collaborate with you during the time prior to the ceremony in order to create a truly bespoke and personal occasion. I will then write a script for you to review for your feedback and to make sure that we are all in agreement with the words. We can also accommodate other family members/friends who may want to include poetry/prose/song. On the big day I will conduct your ceremony and leave you with a finished presentation copy of the script.

If you are looking for a bespoke ceremony, crafted with your unique story at the centre and your choice of readings, vows and symbolic actions, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your plans with you.

The best number to call me on is 07584 074052, or email me: kenealy@hush.com

  • Humanist Funerals and Memorials:

“Celebrate and mourn the life of someone who has died by choosing a Humanist funeral or memorial where you are able to commemorate them and share the memories they have left behind without any religious committal to an ‘after-life”.

If I am chosen to officiate at your ceremony I will:

  1. Arrange to visit you and your family/friends.  You can share your family stories with me, and I would hope to learn about your loved one’s personality and achievements. This will help me build a sense of who they were and what made them unique and special to you.
  2. Construct a ceremony that will be bespoke to your loved one. I will help you with all aspects of the ceremony i.e. selecting poetry and readings as well as your chosen music at the appropriate times in the ceremony.
  3. Provide you with a finished paper copy of the ceremony script.
