Wedding and Partnership Ceremonies
Your Special day
There are as many different wedding ceremonies as there are couples getting married. Each ceremony will be unique and can be individualized for your special day. In our humanist ceremonies couples can have a choice of writing their own vows, and/or writing something they want to say to each other or to those gathered around them.
I’ll work with you to write a ceremony that is as individual as you are.
The Order of Service breaks down the ceremony and you are able to eliminate or expand on each area as you like.
The choices are as wide ranging as you would like to make them- which is, of course, the great attraction of this type of Ceremony as you are able to say what you truly feel. The end product will be a truly personal statement of your hopes, expectations and aspirations as you undertake a commitment that is awe-inspiring.
While each and every Ceremony is different, a typical example structure is as follows:
- Arrival of the couple (individually or together)
- Introductions and Welcomes
- Words about love and commitment
- Reading or poem
- The couples story – how they met, shared values, hopes for the future
- What marriage means to the couple
- Reading or poem
- Asking guests for encouragement
- The couple’s promises
- Meaningful symbolic act e.g. handfasting
- Exchange of rings
- Pronouncement as married
- Words of well-wishing
- Exit
Please get in touch by any of the methods that are listed on the right column of this page and I will be happy go into more detail.
