Hello.<\/span><\/p>\n My name is <\/span>Sue Walder<\/span><\/strong>. I live in the beautiful Calder Valley and<\/span> conduct humanist weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, plus memorials\/celebrations of life and funerals across West Yorkshire. I’m also happy to conduct ceremonies in north London and surrounding counties such as Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Buckinghamshire. I can be persuaded to conduct destination weddings too! I have more than 30 years’ experience of public relations, marketing, and copywriting and it gives me great pleasure to be able to use my listening, writing and organisational skills to help couples and families create bespoke, personal, and memorable ceremonies. <\/span><\/p>\n I have been a humanist for a long time without knowing it. I just didn’t have a label for it. I\u00a0had identified myself as atheist since I was 12 but it wasn’t until my father’s humanist funeral ceremony in 2009, which allowed us to start celebrating the life of the man we loved, that I realised I was actually a humanist.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Humanists believe we have one life, here on Earth, and it is up to each of us, as individuals and as communities, to live with purpose and meaning, without help from any supernatural power.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Humanists make sense of the world using reason, experience, and shared human values like empathy, tolerance and kindness. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Why have a humanist ceremony?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Throughout history and across all human cultures, the important moments in life – birth, marriage, and death – have been marked with celebration or rituals, often tied to religious and cultural traditions. <\/span><\/p>\n Humanist ceremonies help people mark these major life events in a way that is personal, sincere, and honest but without the need for prayers or hymns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I am proud to be one of the 500+ celebrants trained and accredited by Humanists UK<\/a>.
