About Charlotte West-Oram
I live in a village in the East Midlands and conduct Humanist Naming Ceremonies in Derbyshire and the surrounding counties. Humanism was introduced to me by my father decades ago and I’ve been a member of the organisation for some time. I decided to become a celebrant after our children and I wrote and led my late husband’s funeral.
I was inspired to train specifically as a Namings Celebrant after attending two such ceremonies and finding them moving and charming.
My priority is to create a ceremony that is unique to each individual family. Your ceremony can be as formal or informal as you like. Music, live or recorded is often part of the occasion as are readings, a symbolic act, and promises from parents, other family members, and friends. Putting the ceremony together is a joint effort between the family and me; this ensures that its style, content and general feel are just right for your child and your family.
My presenting and writing styles are generally thought of as warm, relaxed and inclusive. My aim is to create a comfortable atmosphere, at the same time acknowledging the importance and sincerity of the day.
