Weddings and Vow Renewals

Why have a humanist wedding ceremony?

A humanist wedding ceremony gives you the opportunity to create an occasion that is totally unique, personal and authentic. You and your stories will be at its very heart, and you can include music, poems, readings and performances that are meaningful to you.

It can be anywhere you choose (as long as it’s permitted!) – in a favourite building or venue, or outdoors, in a park, woodland, garden or on a beach – as a formal or relaxed as you like.

And it can be on a date and at a time of your choosing, so no date restrictions due to the limited availability of the registrars.

In brief, this is your special day, and you can shape it in whichever way you want: your wedding, your way.

You may want a theme, or have a particular dress code – or want family members or friends to participate in the ceremony – or for symbolic rituals, such as hand-fasting or sand blending, to be included. However you envisage your day, we can together find a solution that works for you. I can help you craft your perfect script, and have a huge resource of readings and poems for inspiration, if you need it.

About your celebrant

When my partner and I got married 20 years ago, together we created our own humanist wedding: it gave us the opportunity to shape the ceremony on our terms, as equals, and to craft words and vows personal and meaningful to us. We were able to make a joyous and unforgettable occasion that celebrated our union, along with our then toddler daughter, with our family and friends as witnesses and participants.

The significance of rituals and ceremonies has become greater to me as my family has become older, and I appreciate even more the importance of these landmark events. One of the reasons I trained with Humanists UK was to share the opportunity of marking these key life occasions in a non-religious way. It’s an enormous privilege to get to know couples and their stories as they plan and develop their own ceremonies, and a real honour to be a part of their special day.

My background is in publishing and the entertainment industry, so the importance of words and storytelling, and how we share our stories with each other, is very close to my heart. I would love to have the chance to help you tell yours.

I speak French fluently, and a little German and Spanish, and am very happy to conduct ceremonies elsewhere in the UK and overseas.

Contact me anytime on 07710 489514 to talk in more detail about how we could work together. Evenings and weekends are fine.
