Humanist Ceremonies Spain

Humanist Ceremonies Spain

There are so many options available to you if you choose a destination event in Spain in terms of location and venue, time of year (winter, spring and autumn are all fabulous times to optimise good weather, without the searing heat) and budget.  However, one thing that is NOT in plentiful supply is the availability of Humanist Ceremonies Accredited celebrants….in fact, to the best of my knowledge, there are only two, across the whole of Spain….though plenty offering Humanist ceremonies!

DIY Weddings in Spain

As one of the two, I’m based in Granada province – close to Nerja, Málaga and the Costa Del Sol but also with the knowledge of hidden treasures in terms of venues and sites closely in Granada province.  I’m particularly  passionate to promote the Lecrin Valley (just South of the city of Granada -think the Alhambra Palaces, skiing in the Sierra Nevadas and amazing shopping, food and culture) for rustic and natural ceremonies.  It’s a place of outstanding beauty, still relatively undiscovered, yet within an hour and a quarter from Málaga airport and an hour from Granada.

I’m not a wedding planner per se, but am happy to make recommendations for all kinds of suppliers locally and if I don’t know, I’ll be able to find out from my network! So if you’re independently planning your wedding in Southern Spain, get in touch!

Wedding planners are golden at helping couples too and I’ve had the pleasure of working with some fantastic ones who can plan your event whether you choose a beachside Chirringutio, a mountainside Cortijio, an historic castle or monument, your own villa or the numerous venues and sites in between!

Still unsure?

A few benefits of a destination wedding are:

  • Weather – pretty perfect for outdoor ceremonies
  • Choice of locations
  • Costs are typically a lot lower than the UK
  • Blending of honeymoon and wedding location

It’s cheap and easy to do the legalities in the UK before or after your ceremony and celebrations or at the Registrars in Gibraltar…https://www.gibraltar.gov.gi/uploads/files/marriages-civil-partnerships/marriages%20-ceremony-guidance-notes-october-2019.pdf. However, unlike other Crown Dependencies – Jersey & Guernsey – Humanist Weddings are not legally recognised there….yet!
