About Gill Herbert

Celebrating the important things in a life requires careful consideration of what is most important. As a Humanist Celebrant based in Huddersfield for the last six years I have worked with many families and friends of people in West, North and South Yorkshire who have wanted to create a unique and personal tribute to someone they have lost. It has been a privilege to help them create a funeral which is right for them. Their words on the next page are just a few of the comments I have received.

Anyone who does not want religious content in the ceremony to celebrate a life can benefit from assistance from a celebrant who can:

talk to everyone who should be involved

help them think about what is right for them

write the words needed or help them write their own

put together a collection of things to listen to or say

make practical arrangements with the funeral director and venues

create a personal and meaningful way to say good-bye

give you a copy of what is said so that you can remember in days to come.

The experience is different for everyone.

Funeral Ceremonies can be short and traditional at the Crematorium or in a Cemetery, or we can find a venue in which to have a more individual memorial so that more people can be involved or attend. If you’d like me to work with you, contact me direct or ask the Funeral Director involved to do so. I sometimes work with families before someone reaches the end of their time to plan together what they want to happen when the funeral arrives.
