Covid 19 Coronavirus Update

In our society, a funeral is a rite of passage, which marks the life, and death, of the deceased.  It gives their family and friends a chance to come together to mourn collectively, to remember their loved one, and to offer comfort and support to one another.

Currently, funerals are restricted to only a very few immediate family members, and we are being denied the chance to grieve together in the way that we’re used to.

However, celebrants are being creative in finding new ways to help at this time.  There are a number of options that you could consider:

  • A small private funeral ceremony now, followed by a larger memorial at a later time, when restrictions on gatherings have been lifted;
  • Live-streaming the funeral ceremony so that friends and family can watch it as it happens.  Some crematoria are equipped for this;
  • Recording the ceremony and distributing it afterwards;
  • Having an on-line memorial ceremony using video-conferencing software like Zoom or Google Meet to enable a large number of people to attend.

All these options can be very successful and result in a moving and memorable event.  We can discuss each one in detail, so that you can decide what best suits your circumstances and wishes.  Together, we will make sure that your loved one is celebrated and remembered in the way they deserve.
