Funerals

How do we make this all happen?

You can either contact me directly or your Funeral Director can make the initial enquiry.

I will arrange to discuss with the family members, or whoever is arranging the funeral, the service they would like, and receive any instructions left by the person who has died.

Together we can share the information and memories that will become the Tribute, which is at the heart of the service.

All Humanist funerals are ‘tailor made’ but we do recommend the following framework.

A Welcome and Introduction, The Tribute, a time of Quiet Reflection, usually with music, The Committal, where we say our final farewell, and some Closing Words, this can include; ‘thanks you’s’, and details for any donations.
Included at intervals throughout the service can be any readings or poems that you have chosen, I can also offer suggestions. Many families now include a photographic tribute as well.

Everyone is welcome to the service, whatever their own thoughts and beliefs. During the moment for Quiet Reflection those with a faith are invited to say a private prayer.

My fee can be paid as part of the funeral costs and for approximately £245 this will include: –
• A family meeting to discuss the service you would like, and email and phone contact throughout the planning process.
• The preparation of a full service and tribute with a check with the family for accuracy.
• Liaison with the Funeral Director, especially over the preparation of the order of service.
• Attendance on the day of the funeral after which there will be a copy of the service for you to keep.
• Local travelling expenses.
