About Jenny Rudd
Hi there! I’m Jenny Rudd and I am a humanist celebrant. I conduct naming ceremonies in the West Midlands and Warwickshire area.
Naming ceremonies are often held as people feel the arrival of a child is too important an event not to mark and specifically to welcome a child or children into the world – if you are reading this then you must already be sharing a similar view! It is a chance to celebrate their safe arrival and introduce them to their circle of family and friends, often incorporated with 1st birthdays – lots of laughter and cake to be had!.
They are informal, happy occasions about the individual child and family, often including the appointment of guide parents. Some naming ceremonies include music, poetry, readings and symbolic gestures, for example the lighting of candles or a tree of ‘wishes’. There are many options available to suit your preferences.
I will work closely with you to provide a unique and memorable occasion. We will meet informally and I will gather all of the relevant information and ideas from you with the aim of producing a ceremony both fun and moving in equal measure.
My first experience of a humanist ceremony happened when I chose a naming day for my daughter close to her 1st birthday – she’s now all grown up but the memories remain! It was such a wonderful and touching occasion, a lovely location on a warm summer’s day, surrounded by family and friends. This experience inspired me to pursue a celebrant role, with the hope that others may get to experience the delight I felt from such a heart-warming ceremony. I look forward to hearing from you and helping to make fantastic memories for you to treasure!
