Accreditation
I am accredited by Humanists UK and am required to keep professionally updated and be peer reviewed to remain accredited. My work is covered by full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. I have an advanced DRB check and have adopted the Celebrant Accord. I comply with the data protection act through my privacy statement. As a member of the Humanist UK celebrant network, I can call on colleagues to stand in for me if required due to ill health or other circumstances.
Privacy Statement
In preparation for your Ceremony, I will have conversations with you which will give me personal information about you, your family and friends. You only need to give me information that you wish to give and implicit is this is your consent. I will of course observe your directions about how you want that information used (for example, what to leave out or skim over). I will ensure that all information you give me is properly protected.
The data I might hold includes names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, details of people’s lives including relationships with other people, leisure or work activities, activism and affiliations, faith or belief, behaviours and habits. This data can take the form of:
- Paper and electronic copies of scripts
- Paper and electronic background information from family and friends
- Paper and electronic contact details
- Electronic calendar appointments
- Messages on emails, texts or social media
- Digital photos
I use your data to write and conduct Ceremonies and to keep records for business purposes. I may share some data with the Funeral Director where this is necessary for the smooth running of the Ceremony. I may share some data with other family members if this has been agreed with you. I may share my anonymised script with colleagues as part of my professional development.
Where I have paper copies of your data (e.g. initial enquiry form, handwritten notes from a family meeting), these are kept securely at home and then destroyed within two months of the ceremony taking place. I keep a paper copy of the final script in folder and an electronic copy on my Google Drive indefinitely. This drive is password protected.
For personal safety reasons, I have a shared digital calendar with appointment details if I visit you including your name, address and telephone number. These details remain in my Google Calendar indefinitely. All email correspondence likewise remains in my Google archives. My Google account is password protected.
Whilst we are engaged, I keep your names and contact details on my Google Contacts which are accessed from all my devices and password protected. These contact details are deleted within two months of the ceremony taking place.
You may request access to the information I hold about you at any time, and I will provide this within one month of your request. You may request that your information is deleted, and I will do so within 48 hours of receiving a request.
