About me
I write. I perform. I aim to give help at a time when people need it most. Sometimes I give practical guidance on funeral matters; sometimes I just listen.
I learn something new every day. I think I am responsive and communicative. My children have taught me much more than I ever taught them.
Hastings is my home, though I was born in Essex, and grew up in Dorset. I love this rugged town pulsating with the colour and energy of vibrant humans. Seasons of sun and wind and rain temper its moods. Tides wash in visitors – commuters, artists, holidaymakers, musicians, seekers of a better life – who find their place among people who called Hastings home forever.
I joined Humanists UK because the organisation provide a great support network for celebrants, and for bereaved people. Humanists share a people-first, people-equal attitude: that idea works for me, too. People can live fulfilling, ethical lives based on reason and humanity, steered by thoughtfulness, respect, kind actions and good humour.
I know some things about biology and biotechnology, bits of science, scraps of poetry. I was a goalkeeper and a football referee.
