Welcome

John Leaman – Humanist Celebrant

Covid-19 Update – I’m pleased to say that, at the moment, I am fit and well and able to conduct funeral ceremonies, subject to the current necessary restrictions. For more details, please go directly to the Covid-19 page.

Welcome to my website. If you’ve found me, then I assume you’re looking for someone to help with a ceremony of some sort, either a Funeral or a Naming. By all means jump directly to the appropriate page where I explain my approach to these ceremonies in some detail, or, if you would like to know a little more about me, then stay here and read on. If you’re looking for more general information on Humanism or Humanists Ceremonies, then the links on the right should take you to the right place.

I retired a couple of years ago and, in the run up to retirement, I spent some time thinking about how to keep active and engaged with people, and also thought about the skills, knowledge and experience I have to offer. I also happened across the Humanists website, and realised that I’d actually been a Humanist for years without wearing the label. I concluded that I had the potential to train as a Celebrant, which I did, initially for Funerals. The excellent training courses offered by Humanists UK are comprehensive, rigourous and equip a person to provide an excellent service. (The Training Courses have been awarded the OCN Quality Mark for Excellence). The feedback I have received since starting to conduct Funerals has convinced me that I did the ‘right thing’. See my ‘Testimonials’ page.

A little about me: I’m in my early sixties, happily married for over thirty years; we have one son who is now also married. My wife and I recently moved away from the hustle and bustle of Stourbridge to a beautiful spot near Tenbury Wells, not far from Ludlow and Leominster. We have quite a large garden, which I’m sure is going to keep us challenged for some years to come. My working life was spent in what is now called ‘IT’, firstly as a Programmer and Analyst, but latterly as a Management Consultant, so I’m used to meeting new people. My main outside interest has been Amateur Operetta and Musicals, a hobby I share with my wife. You might say I have ‘stage presence’, but I couldn’t possibly comment. I play golf as often as time allows, and I like to read and listen to lots of different types of music.

If you think I could be the right fit for you, and what you have in mind, please don’t hesitate to contact me. If you’re not sure, please take a look at my other pages, and then give me a call or drop me an email.
