Funerals

My standard fee for a funeral – a cremation or a burial – is £240. If this is a problem, please talk to me about it and we’ll see if I can bring the cost down. Memorial services start at the same fee, unless the family ask me to help them construct and deliver a much longer (one-hour plus) ceremony, in which case my fee increases to £300.

If the special nature of any ceremony means I will incur extra out of pocket expenses, or have to travel outside Kent, I will again let you know in advance, and make sure you are happy with any additional costs.

Like lots of my colleagues, I don’t charge anything for any funeral where the person who died was under 18.

Weddings

My fee is £660, payable in three stages. Again, if the special nature of any ceremony means I will incur extra out of pocket expenses, or have to travel outside Kent, I will again let you know in advance, and make sure you are happy with any additional costs.

I should also mention one more thing; a Humanist wedding is always the meaningful wedding for everyone involved – but they are not (yet) recognised in England as legal marriages. If that is your intent, you should also plan a simple civil ceremony – we can discuss this when we meet.
