About Kathryn Calvert
Hello, My name is Kathryn Calvert and I am a funeral celebrant working in the South Cumbria and North Lancashire area. The funerals which I conduct have unique, sensitive and heartwarming non-religious ceremonies which can be planned together with family members and friends of the deceased. This means that you can have the funeral that is fitting for your loved one – and you can be involved as much or as little as you want within the ceremony. I can guide you through any suitable music choices and readings which you may wish to include in the ceremony, that captures the essence of your loved one. You will receive a presentation copy of the ceremony for you to keep.
I think that I have been a Humanist for most of my adult life but first came across Humanism UK when having to arrange a funeral for a family member in 2010. A humanist funeral was the right type of ceremony and it was not only a fitting and heart-warming farewell, but at the end of the service it left those present feeling uplifted because of the cherished and personal memories that they had the opportunity to share. My aim is that I shall be able to create a similar atmosphere for your loved one.
I spent my early career as a professional youth and community worker, where it was important to listen to and understand people’s needs, and be able to facilitate, empower or guide people through difficult times in their lives. I use these same skills today to support people in planning a funeral that is unique and right for their circumstances.
