About Me
My name is Kat and I’m a Wedding Celebrant!
Creative. Calming. Playful.
That’s me in a nutshell. I’m a confident performer and creative writer, with almost a decade of Children’s Nursing under my belt. In my eyes, life should be celebrated and what better way to celebrate two people choosing to share their lives together than with a Wedding Ceremony written just for them, and only them.
My Humanist Story
I’m not religious. I believe that we have one life, and this is it (and I find that inspiring!). I am guided by science, evidence and reason. Above all else, I believe in compassionate decision making, with human welfare at the core. I still LOVE to celebrate milestones though – however I don’t feel obligated to do this in a traditional setting or style. I very much feel that celebrating life, love and family can be done however you like. I actually think it’s really important to acknowledge our partners, family and friends at each stage of their lives and ours. It’s our relationships that create family and friends, and this is wonderfully unique for everyone – which is why I found Humanist ceremonies so eye opening! It’s about celebrating your life, your way!
My Arts Background
I studied Theatre and Writing in the beautiful shadows of Snowdonia at Bangor University. Here I learned to write, devise and perform in plays/short films. Since then I have continued to practice these skills in Cheshire & Merseyside. I perform regular gigs with my ‘Boss Birds Improv‘ team in Liverpool as well as other teams across the UK. I’ve taught youth theatre, produced films, directed plays…. I could talk for days about this passion! Importantly though, these skills guide me though a Wedding Ceremony.
My Healthcare Background
I’ve been privileged to care for children and young people with complex illness / disability for many years. I’m trained to chat well, be a listening ear and to make sure everyone feels at ease. (I’m also great a distracting children!)
