Weddings
The answer is yes, I would be delighted to marry you!
Er, ok, not marry you – you’ve already found someone to do that because that’s why you’re on this page.
Enormous congratulations to you both! What I meant was it would be my pleasure to conduct the ceremony that sees you well and truly married to the one you adore. To love another person is a wonderful thing. When they love you back, that’s pretty amazing too. And if you both decide you want to live the rest of your lives together, nothing could be more worthy of celebration.
I wonder, by my troth, what thou and I did, till we loved? – John Donne
I write ceremonies that are as unique and special as the couple for whom they are composed. With your input, I will craft the perfect ceremony just for you. If you’re unsure as to what to include, I have an abundance of ideas: a massive selection of readings and poems which I am always extending; a wide knowledge of symbolic deeds, from traditional handfasting and ring warming, to less well-known acts. (I could even help you create something that has never been done before!)
I am passionate about music and have an extensive and eclectic expertise which I’m only too pleased to share. If you do know what you’d like, that’s great too. I take your choices and weave them into a coherent, meaningful script which I will deliver with warmth and happiness on your special day.
“I will live in thy heart, die in thy lap, and be buried in thy eyes
— and moreover, I will go with thee to thy uncle’s.” – William Shakespeare
One of the beauties of a humanist ceremony is that it can take place anywhere you like, and I am ready for that. Outdoors, indoors, halfway up a cliff, dangling from a hot air balloon – bring it on! I’m based in Dursley, a town on the edge of the Cotswolds, though I was born and bred by the seaside in Margate, Kent. As long as expenses are covered, I am happy to travel. Likewise, I am happy to stay put and provide my services virtually, via a platform such as Zoom.
“…and what would humans be without love?”
RARE, said Death. – Terry Pratchett
In my life, I have been a teacher, singer and performer, so I am ridiculously comfortable speaking in front of a crowd. I’ve written scripts and directed shows. I’ve even been in love! My experiences have given me the ability to think on my feet in a crisis, while remaining calm and professional. I’m also excellent at putting people at their ease. You’ll find me informally formal; amusing, yet with a great sense of occasion.
But don’t take my word for it – send me email: lizziethecelebrant@gmail.com
or call: 01453 455415 / 07929 624976
and see if I’m the one to marry you after all.
Love recognizes no barriers.
It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls
to arrive at its destination full of hope. – Maya Angelou
