Louise Rooney

My name is Louise Rooney and I am a Funeral Celebrant accredited by Humanists UK. I can conduct funeral ceremonies and memorial services in all areas of Salford, Manchester city centre, the suburbs of Greater Manchester including, but not exclusively, Prestwich, Chorlton, Didsbury, Stretford, Urmston, Sale and Altrincham. I am based on the Salford/Manchester border during the working week but can also travel along the North Wales coast as far as Anglesey if needed.

I became a funeral celebrant after the loss of my parents in 2023. We had a humanist funeral for them and it inspired me to train and become accredited. I love to meet and learn about people. I love to write and it gives me a great honour to tell the story of your loved one. It sounds cheesy, but I feel this role has been waiting for me for a long time.

I am married and I am a mother to a teenage daughter. Our home is on Anglesey, North Wales but we live in Greater Manchester during the working week to enable our daughter to study here. This means I can work in both Manchester and North Wales.

Prior to my new role as a funeral celebrant I worked with my husband in the family window cleaning business. Before that I worked for many years at Greater Manchester Police and North Wales Police.

The funeral and memorial services I craft are warm and welcoming. They will be memorable and meaningful to everyone who knew your loved one. As individual as the person you have lost, the tribute I write about them will be special and significant, words you will treasure for a long time and take great comfort from.

You can expect me to talk to you at great length about your loved one. About their life, their work, their hobbies, their travels, their accomplishments. Who they were, what they meant to you and the others who surrounded them in life. Perhaps even a funny story or two. Funerals are sad occasions but they are also an opportunity to remember and celebrate your loved one and share wonderful memories. Their tribute will be sent to you to approve before the funeral or memorial service. It is your tribute to them, written by myself from the information you share. You own it, and it is important you feel I tell the story appropriately, accurately and with compassion and empathy.
