About Lucy Radford

I am a Humanist Celebrant, trained and accredited by Humanists UK to conduct funerals and memorial services. I have identified with the humanist mindset and philosophy since my teenage years, but attending a Humanist celebration of my grandmother’s life when I was in my early thirties inspired me to become more involved with Humanists UK. The celebrant at my grandmother’s funeral understood and described her so beautifully, and I remember thinking ‘I want to do that for other people’.

I will help you on an important step of your journey through grief by learning about the person you’re celebrating. The words I write for the funeral ceremony will resonate with you – in sadness at their death, but also with joy and laughter at memories of their life. It is deeply important to me to ensure that you recognise your loved one and feel that I am alongside you at what can be a profoundly impactful time in your life.

When I’m not conducting Humanist funerals, I work in interdisciplinary conservation research and spend my downtime learning flying trapeze, aerial hoop and static trapeze. I also do a lot of dog walking and dog sitting, to the point where my friends joke that there can’t be many dogs left in Oxfordshire that I haven’t met.
