I conduct funerals and memorial services that are compassionate and sympathetic in consultation with members of the family and friends. My commitment to you is to create and deliver a meaningful ceremony that honours and celebrates the deceased even when they have died in difficult circumstances. Together we can devise that special and individual ceremony, giving you the opportunity to weave in music, poetry or readings if you so choose.

What is humanism?

You may have arrived at this site because you are looking for a non-religious funeral, but you don’t know much about humanism.

Humanists believe that it is possible to live a good and fulfilling life without the need for religion or a God. We believe that what matters in life is the wonder of living it and our contributions to the lives of others. Humanists do not believe in life after death and this informs the way we live. It encourages us to make the most of our time here: relishing our human experience and cherishing the people we love.

As I found out more about humanism I realised that ‘humanist’ was a label I was very happy to give myself, as I believe that it is perfectly possible to live a good, positive life based on reason and personal morality rather than any religious belief. You may not have considered yourself a humanist before, but if this fits in with your view of the world and that of your deceased loved one, then a humanist funeral could be the right choice for you.

Am I the right person for you?

I am a humanist celebrant living in south-west London, but I am happy to take ceremonies in all surrounding areas – or further afield, if required.

For most of my working life, I have been a primary school teacher and then a headteacher and am very used to talking to people and public speaking. I wanted to become a celebrant and have trained with, and been accredited by Humanists UK. This has enabled me to provide a high standard of service for the bereaved at a difficult time and I have felt privileged and honoured to have been able to do so.
