My name is Rachel Jones.

I’m accredited by Humanists UK to conduct non-religious funerals.  My role is to work with families and loved ones during a time that is often extremely challenging and sensitive.

A funeral is a truly emotional event and a celebrant plays a supportive role throughout – from the initial phone call, to the first meeting, to the ceremony and in any contact thereafter.

Each and every person is unique and each and every funeral is unique.  As you are choosing a humanist ceremony, it is possible for you to be completely flexible when deciding what to include.

When working with you my approach is compassionate, thoughtful and respectful.  I spend plenty of time getting to know about the life and character of your loved one.  Personal touches are therefore at the forefront of the ceremony.  You can be assured that innermost feelings are always reflected in a ceremony that is personal and dignified.

Music, poetry and prose can, at a sorrowful time help to express feelings and sentiments in a profound way.  Choosing these elements of a ceremony is important.  Sometimes it is known in advance what is to be chosen and at others, not.  If not, I can help so that we can come up with ideas that are meaningful.

Some family members or friends like to speak at the funeral, whilst others would like me to speak on their behalf.  As in all aspects of the ceremony, the choice is always yours.

Where I work

I am based in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan and work throughout the whole of the Vale.  I also work in Cardiff, Newport (inc Gwent), Bridgend (inc RCT), the South Wales Valleys, other parts of Wales and along the M4 corridor.  I am happy to travel overseas if required.
