What is a humanist ceremony? 

This is both easy and tricky to define as every ceremony is unique and incredibly special in its own way.  The main thing to say is that there are no rules.  Your ceremony can be big or small, grand or informal, traditional or completely off the wall.  It can take place in a fancy venue or in the middle of a field, you are in control of all these details.  There is no set script and no formal words have to be spoken.  Your ceremony will be all about you and totally bespoke.

Humanist ceremonies are non-religious, instead rooted in values such as equality, fairness, compassion, respect and inclusivity.  Although humanists do not believe in God this does not mean that people who hold religious beliefs are excluded.  Everyone is very welcome at a humanist ceremony.

A bit about me

I live in rural Cambridgeshire, bordering Essex and Suffolk.  I live with my husband and dogs and have two adult children.  I was born and brought up in South London, moving to Cambridge in 1989 to train as a nurse and then switching careers in 2006 to become a social worker.

My interests include gardening, photography, binging quality box sets and cooking.  I try and paint (water colours) with varying degrees of success – beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder!

What would I bring?

I am a kind and compassionate person, I am calm and not easily flustered and I have an ability to put people at their ease.  I am committed to providing bespoke and meaningful ceremonies with you, and the love you share with each other, at the very centre. I find people and their stories and experiences endlessly fascinating and relish the opportunity to hear about yours.

I will work diligently to ensure that your ceremony is delivered with warmth and sincerity – and with an injection of humour if that’s your bag.  My aim is to make you feel comfortable at every stage of the planning process and of course, during the ceremony itself.
