About Richard
Hello! My name is Richard, I live in Croydon, and I am a humanist celebrant for weddings with Humanists UK.
Humanism is about celebrating the here and now, and the meaning that exists in all our lives. A humanist wedding ceremony does just this: it reflects the love and relationship of the two people joining their lives together, in a way that feels personal and meaningful to them.
As a celebrant, I will work closely with you to tailor an engaging ceremony that authentically reflects yourselves as individuals, as well as the uniqueness of your relationship together.
Working in policy in Westminster during the week, I am a confident written and spoken communicator, and conduct myself with courtesy and professionalism. Additionally, I am an adept public speaker: since 2017 I have performed stand-up comedy at various venues in London, Brighton, Edinburgh, and beyond; in 2022, I came runner-up in the LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year competition.
I consider myself to be a very open-minded and empathetic person, and look forward to hearing from couples from all walks of life. Being gay and non-binary myself, I believe I would be particularly well-placed to work with couples from the LGBTQ+ community. I am Croydon-based, am easily able to travel all over Greater London, and could also easily travel via public transport to Brighton and other locations in the southeast. Travel further afield can also be discussed. I very much look forward to hearing from you!
Testimonials
“… the script [Richard] wrote for us was second-to-nowt, the ceremony was executed with extreme precision and there wasn’t a dry eye in the tent. Please do hire them, or recommend them to others looking for a celebrant” – Owen, groom (August 2022)
