What is a Humanist Wedding?

Well, it’s personal.  It’s bespoke and it’s individual.  A humanist wedding is non-religious.  You won’t hear any hymns or prayers, but there can be music, songs and readings.  Your humanist wedding can be as formal or relaxed as you wish.  The great thing is that it’s you who decides the venue, the format, and the content.  Why a Humanist Wedding….

Unlike a civil ceremony – where you don’t know who you will get till the day….meeting up with a celebrant is an important part of this wonderful process.  Well you have spent your time choosing the right venue, photographer, food etc, therefore it is essential for you to be happy with your celebrant.

What matters is that you enjoy a day that will be both meaningful and memorable, for you, your friends and your family.  This is a lovely Video that shows you more about Humanist weddings.

My name is Samantha Wilkes,  I feel very strongly about endorsing the freedom, creativity and pure joy that a humanist wedding brings.

I married in a 600 year old castle. The entrance music was an orchestral Iron Maiden track, listen here there were candles lit and there was a huge log fire. My family and friends were part of our ceremony and warmed our wedding rings. Later we tied the knot! It all felt personal and unique, and essentially there was no religious overtures and our promises were written from the heart.

As an accredited Humanist UK wedding celebrant you have the assurance of quality and professionalism, with a human touch. All the love stories that are told to me are truly inspirational, fascinating, at times hilarious and the outcomes are always as unique and wonderful as the couples are. 

Allow me to sit down with you, laugh with you, hear all about you, your ideas for your ceremony as we have tea and/or coffee. I will even bring lots of ideas along too!

I work closely with bslassist Ltd http://bsl-assist.co.uk a service for people who are deaf and/or hard of hearing. For an small additional cost, an interpreter will work closely with me to produce your perfect ceremony.
