Humanist Funerals and memorials

A Humanist ceremony is non-religious and specially written for the occasion. Every person is different, and so every funeral is different.

Planning a funeral can be difficult and confusing at an emotional time.  I will help to guide you through it.  I’ll come to meet you in person if it’s possible, or get in touch by phone or video call.  I’ll listen and ask questions to help put together a personal ceremony, reflecting what you want. Then I’ll send you a draft, so that you can read it through and check that you’re happy with it all.

We can include speakers, music, messages from friends, readings and poetry, or anything else that you would like.

You only get one chance to have a funeral for someone, so it’s important that it is as good as it can be.

On the day I’ll meet you at the crematorium or cemetery, and make sure everything runs smoothly. And before we say goodbye,  I’ll give you a final printed copy of the whole ceremony for you to keep.

Memorials usually happen some time after the funeral, and are more relaxed, with plenty of time for speakers and personal memories. You can choose the venue – possibly your own home or garden for example, or a restaurant or hotel, a marquee or a village hall.
