About: Weddings

The UK Wedding Industry is apparently worth 14.7 billion and the National Wedding Survey informs us that the most popular song for the first dance is ‘Can’t help falling in love’ by Elvis Presley.

But if we step away from the wedding websites, magazines and instagram accounts promoting products that are ‘essential’ for the perfect day, we can remember that at the heart of the wedding there is a couple. That’s you! A couple who wish to make a most profound commitment to each other.  So, before we start let’s agree to not get distracted or intimidated by the Wedding Industry, even though I also love to dress up and enjoy Elvis as much as the next person!

Let’s start with your story, your values, your hopes and aspirations for your relationship.

Your wedding day can be as elaborate or as simple as you like.  I am, of course, very interested to hear if you have a strong vision of how you want your ceremony to be, but, if you aren’t sure, we can simply start with your story and let any ideas unfold from there. Nothing is ‘off the table’. Humanist Weddings are inclusive so may involve elements from different cultures if they resonate with you, reflect your values or symbolise your family background.

It begins with our meeting – either in person or on-line. This is a free and no obligations conversation to discuss your thoughts, and it’s a chance for you to see if you want to work with me as your celebrant.

If you decide I’m the right person then we will set up a longer more in-depth meeting where we will pick up on our initial discussion and explore everything in more detail. Over the following weeks and months, I’ll help you create your ceremony, which will include everything from readings, music, promises, the ceremony script, through to any symbolic acts you may wish to incorporate. Ideas and drafts will be shared via email and in online meetings until you are ready to approve the final version. On the day I will arrive early to meet with you and anyone else participating, and to ensure everything runs smoothly. Throughout the day you will be my priority, and once the ceremony begins you can leave the details to me and focus on each other.

I am happy to marry couples of every kind and background and usually work in the London region, though further afield is also possible! My standard fee for a ceremony is £800 which is inclusive of meetings, script writing, ongoing communications, delivery on the day, and a presentation copy of the final script. A reduced fee is available for NHS staff, carers, and full-time students.

The next page in the dropdown menu offers some answers to frequently asked questions that you may find useful.

If you would like to have an informal discussion, without obligation, either by phone, email, or over a cup of tea, please feel free to contact me directly.  I look forward to meeting you!
