About: Weddings
The UK Wedding Industry is apparently worth 14.7 billion, and the National Wedding Survey informs us that the most popular song for the first dance is ‘Can’t help falling in love’ by Elvis Presley.
But if we step away from the wedding websites, magazines, and Instagram accounts promoting products that are supposedly essential for the perfect day, we can remember what lies at the heart of every wedding: a couple. That’s you. Two people who have chosen to make a profound commitment to one another.
So, before we begin, let’s agree not to be distracted or intimidated by the Wedding Industry — even though I also enjoy dressing up and love Elvis as much as the next person!
Let’s start with your story, your values, your hopes and aspirations for the future.
Your wedding can be as elaborate or as simple as you wish. Of course, I’m very interested to hear if you already have a clear vision for your ceremony. But if you’re not sure, we can simply begin with your story and allow ideas to emerge from there.
Nothing is off the table. Humanist weddings are wonderfully flexible and inclusive. They can incorporate elements from different cultures, traditions, and family backgrounds, provided they resonate with you and reflect your values.
Everything begins with a meeting, either in person or online. This is a free, no obligation conversation where we can discuss your ideas and get to know one another. It’s also an opportunity for you to decide whether I am the right celebrant for you.
If you decide to go ahead, we’ll arrange a longer, more in-depth meeting where we can explore everything in greater detail. Over the following weeks, I’ll help you shape a ceremony that feels genuinely yours. Together we’ll consider readings, music, vows and promises, symbolic acts, and the overall structure and tone of the ceremony.
Ideas and drafts will be shared by email and discussed in online meetings until you’re completely happy with the final version. On the day itself, I’ll arrive early to meet you and anyone else involved in the ceremony, and to ensure everything runs smoothly. Once the ceremony begins, you can leave the details to me and focus on what matters most: each other.
I am delighted to work with couples of every background and identity. While I am based in London and generally work across the Greater London area, I am also happy to travel further afield.
My standard fee is £850, which includes all meetings, ceremony planning, script writing, ongoing communication, delivery of the ceremony on the day, and a presentation copy of the final script. Reduced fees are available for NHS staff, carers, and full-time students.
The next page in the menu contains answers to some frequently asked questions that you may find helpful.
If you would like an informal conversation, without obligation, by phone, email, or over a cup of tea, please do get in touch. I would love to hear from you and look forward to meeting you.
