About Jan Halliday

Jan Halliday

I was inspired to train as a Humanist Celebrant after being “blown away” by my daughter Katie’s Humanist wedding in Scotland. Not literally blown away – on this particular day in March it was warm, and sunny, with snow on the mountain tops and the ceremony took place in a forest – it was magical.

It was like no wedding I had been to before. It was joyful, funny, emotional, creative, beautiful and very memorable.

Then, after the birth of my first grandchild, Archie, it seemed completely natural to train to become a Naming Celebrant, so that I could conduct his beautiful ceremony on a beach. I have not looked back since and love helping people to celebrate very important and happy occasions in their lives.

I feel honoured to be accredited by Humanists UK and enjoy working with couples and families to create their own very special and completely bespoke wedding and naming ceremonies.

Here are some words that people have used to describe my style as a Humanist Celebrant:

“joyful – warm – unique – fun – entertaining – personal – moving – thoughtful”

If these are words that resonate with you, please feel free to give me a call to tell me all about your news and hopes for your special day. Also, take a look at my testimonial page to see some lovely comments that couples have kindly said about me after their ceremonies.

Before becoming a Celebrant I was an Airport Director, and surprisingly many of the skills I needed for that role are useful today. These include public speaking, creative thinking, an eye for detail and getting to know lots of people.

In my spare time, I am a keen artist, sailor, cyclist, and photographer.

I am always happy to have a no-obligation chat about your hopes, dreams and ideas for your ceremony.

I look forward to meeting you!
