Naming Ceremonies
The arrival of a new member of a family is an occasion to be marked and celebrated. A baby or child naming ceremony is a perfect way to welcome them and can be a very moving and bonding experience for all concerned.
I will work with you to create a ceremony which is personal to you and your family. Your ceremony will be unique, but I have a wide selection of ideas, poems and readings which I can bring to our discussion.
During the ceremony we will reflect on your responsibilities to your child and we will celebrate his or her name, which gives your child personal identity. You may like to make a promise to your child, expressing your love, hopes and aspirations.
The ceremony may also include the appointment of ‘special adults’ who you choose to support your child, the secular equivalent of god-parents. It can also acknowledge the special role taken by grandparents or other members of the family.
A very special occasion to honour and recognise the arrival of a child and to ensure that he or she receives promises of unconditional love, acceptance, support and protection for their future.
