My wonderful friends L & B wanted their wedding ceremony at the bottom of the beautiful Glastonbury Tor. On the wettest day in January the wedding party trekked to a boggy field, where the celebration was to take place. I had never attended a humanist ceremony before and was unaware of what the structure would be. With the rain sheeting over us, Julie welcomed all of the guests and the ceremony began. I was overcome with emotion throughout the whole thing; it was so personal and tailored to my friends’ individual characters. Julie had worked with the couple to ensure that their individual story was represented; each element was very moving, from the story of their lives, the readings, and the beautiful hand fasting symbolisation involving their friends and family. I have never attended such a personal and emotional ceremony and all the guests commented on how special it was. Julie was fantastic on the day; she made everyone feel welcome even whilst standing in the pouring rain with no umbrella! The ceremony was so inspiring that I am having my own humanist celebration for my wedding this December. Julie was absolutely fantastic and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.
