A humanist funeral is a celebration of life, providing an authentic funeral with meaning. A funeral provides a space for grief where the person who has died is sensitively acknowledged with relevance.

 If a person wasn’t particularly religious then a humanist ceremony may feel more authentic. It will be about the person who has died, but the ceremony is also for the living. Whatever the personal beliefs of people attending the funeral, the ceremony will be all-inclusive, with tears and laughter welcome. 

 Making arrangements and deciding what is best can feel like the last thing you want to do when someone has died. 

I’m here to guide you through the practicalities of arranging a ceremony that is an accurate reflection of your loved one.

I have conducted cremation and burial services so I’m familiar with the procedures. I work closely with families and friends to learn as much as I can about the person who has died.  Telling the whole true story of anybody is tricky, but I am a good listener. This enables me to create a fitting script, full of colour and texture.

I listen to your ideas on readings, symbolic gestures, and music but if you aren’t sure what to choose I can make suggestions.

I aim to find a ‘hook’ that will capture the life and personality of your loved one. Each script is unique. I provide a funeral with meaning, that’s all about your loved one. 

I will share the script with you beforehand to ensure that you are happy with what I am going to say and to confirm that what I have written is correct. On the day, I will conduct the ceremony with sensitivity and warmth, focusing on what is important to you and your family.  

My ceremonies allow people time to express their sadness while acknowledging the life the person lived.
