Funeral ceremonies
My work as a funeral celebrant
Since I became accredited by Humanists UK as a funeral celebrant I have never looked back. I felt that everything I had done before led to this. Here’s an article I wrote about why I love being a celebrant.
I like to craft individual ceremonies for real people. My aim during the discussion and planning time I spend with family and friends is to draw out the special things about the person who has died and find a way to celebrate their life to reflect the thoughts and feelings of their loved ones. It is a privilege to be invited into someone’s life at a very difficult and distressing time, and to hear their stories. It is a privilege to be their guide, and I value the great courtesy and care my clients so often extend to me when there is so much else to think about and so much to do.
I offer ceremonies for people of all ages, including the very young, and am trained and accredited by the Foundation for Infant Loss.
I am also accredited by Humanists UK to offer pre-planned funerals. If you wish to speak to me about plans for your own funeral, please get in touch.
Extra support
Your funeral director will be a valuable source of information and support. Here is a selective list of other organisations that offer support a times of bereavement, but there are often local, community-based sources as well.
