Whether you are welcoming a new baby, embracing an adopted child(ren) or step-children or changing your name for whatever reason, by choosing a Humanist

naming celebration, you are able to shape the ceremony exactly as you want, in order that it is personal and meaningful to you.   It’s also the perfect excuse for a family get together!

We all have a story to tell and I will work with you to learn yours or your loved one’s story, at a time that is convenient to you.  Whether you (more or less) know what you want, or would prefer a little more guidance, we can work together to design a ceremony that truly expresses your intention for the occasion.

I will then craft a ceremony which brings together the moments, memories, music and other elements  that truly capture the story and personalities of the people involved in a beautiful, totally original and personal way.  You will, of course, have the opportunity to review and amend the ceremony so that you are entirely comfortable with the content.

Parents, family, friends and guide parents can all be involved in this simple, non-religious ceremony, which can be as traditional or unconventional as you wish it to be!  It can be held almost anywhere you want – in your own home or garden, a hotel or party venue, a Town Hall, on a boat, in a park – the options are endless.  You may also like to include a symbolic element such as tree planting, a memory box, or have poems or music – again the possibilities are endless for a truly unique and significant day.

You will have a presentation script of the ceremony as your keepsake of the day and a naming certificate for your loved one(s) and keepsake certificates for the guide parents if you wish.

My fee for a ceremony is typically from £250.  Please talk to me if that’s going to cause you problems, or if you have special circumstances.  I usually work in Yorkshire but I am more than happy to travel further afield.  Travel expenses at charged at standard HMRC rates of 45p/mile.  I ask for a non-refundable deposit of £50 to secure a date, with the balance due the week of the ceremony.
