Your wedding ceremony is when the craic starts on your wedding day!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

I work with couples who want to use their ceremony to set the tone for their big day and kick it off in style!

A humanist wedding ceremony is a non-religious celebration that is all about you! Full of stories about your lives so far, anecdotes

that ooze personality, maybe some readings from your favourite books or a snippet of ‘your song’ (you know, the one that gets you both up close and personal).  There are so many options!

​Many ceremonies do follow a traditional framework but the details are in your gift! I help couples wishing to encapsulate their personalities in their ceremony and I create a bespoke wedding celebration which they will cherish and, most importantly, enjoy! After all, no two relationships are the same and so no two ceremonies should be either.

Things that you might consider including in the ceremony are:

• • • • • • Procession in for one or both of you
          • Readings of poetry or prose
          • Vows and promises – written by yourselves or by me
          • Symbolic Gestures such as handfasting (so beautiful!).
          • Exchange of rings (or other tokens)
          • Music – live or personal favourites
          • Procession out and confetti showers

 

 

 

 

 

Places that you might consider having your ceremony are:

• Your own home
• A traditional non-religious wedding venue
• A venue without a wedding license (they are not required for Humanist weddings)
• In a castle
• Anywhere outdoors
• Somewhere weird and wonderful!

 

 

While I do love a traditional themed wedding, I absolutely love it when couples go off the beaten track and try something different. If you are thinking this way then you might want to try:

• A gothic themed wedding
• A 50’s (or even 80’s) style wedding
• An Elvis themed wedding
• A biker themed wedding (please someone ask me for this!!)
• A film-based wedding (e.g. Star Wars)
• A geek wedding.

Fees

My standard fee includes no hidden costs. If you live further than 10 miles away from my location, I will require reasonable travel costs (45p per mile). Similarly, if an overnight stay is required, I will need to include reasonable accommodation costs.  I also offer a no obligation meeting via Zoom or in a cafe/ bar or your home to meet you (under Covid restrictions obviously), and see if I am the Celebrant for you.

After this initial meeting, if you decide that you would like to book me as your Celebrant, I ensure that you know the full fee for the complete service (including any expenses), and will ask for a booking fee to hold the day of your ceremony for you.

My fee includes:

• Travel within a 10 mile radius
• A meeting where we discuss everything that you want in your ceremony.
• A unique script written from scratch by me for your ceremony
• Availability via email, zoom or mobile phone throughout your planning process
• As many script drafts as required to ensure that you are completely happy with it
• Arriving with plenty of time on your wedding day, to coordinate with your venue, photographer, musicians and anyone necessary from the wedding party (best man, bridesmaids, readers, ushers etc) so they all feel confident in knowing what they need to do.
• Officiating your wedding ceremony on your big day
• A commemorative keepsake copy of your ceremony script presented on the day of your wedding
• An electronic copy of the commemorative script.
• Fully insured, accredited and professional service.

 

My standard fee for 2024 is £650 plus mileage. I ask for a £250 booking fee on acceptance of me as your celebrant, and the remaining balance can be paid in instalments or once the final script has been agreed. In these uncertain times I understand that many couples have been forced to cancel their plans or change dates/venues etc. I will work with you and try to be as flexible as possible to ensure that we walk this journey together so that you have the best day of your lives!!
